Built by Nature Welcomes Karianne Kraaijestein as Head of Communications

Built by Nature is very pleased to announce the appointment of Karianne Kraaijestein as Head of Communications, based in Amsterdam. Karianne will be instrumental in directing the communications strategies and deploying a range of tactics consistent with Built by Nature’s commitment to transforming the built environment to work in unison with nature, as realised by our network and Accelerator Fund grantees.

Karianne brings a depth and breadth of experience across advertising, marketing, branding and public relations functions, having served as an independent consultant and communications team leader across several geographies and industries with a well-earned reputation for an entrepreneurial spirit, strong management qualities and profound knowledge of business management.

Most recently, her experience and expertise have been applied at the intersection of the built environment and sustainability, serving for two years as an interim marketing director and consultant in Amsterdam’s real estate sector, while also playing a vital leadership role in two regenerative and biodiversity-focused real estate projects in Portugal and Spain.

Karianne describes her motivation for joining Built by Nature as follows:

“These past decades we have placed ourselves at the top of the ecosystem and lost our connection to nature and the notion that we are nature, and not separate beings. By reuniting with nature, bringing back cathedral thinking, advocating a zero-waste policy and by taking impactful courageous actions there is hope. It’s great to see that hope is being embraced, which is why I see a tremendous personal alignment with the mission and vision of Built by Nature – about connecting innovative leaders and enabling them to generate solutions for the significant decarbonisation challenge confronting the real estate sector. To me, this is very exciting and challenging, and I’m delighted to play a part in this movement to transform an industry.”
