Built by Nature welcomes new Board member: Bob van der Zande
Built by Nature is pleased to welcome the latest appointment to our Board of Directors: Bob van der Zande is a respected urban strategist, serving as an advisor to cities, regions, investors and developers. With his focus on building-in-wood and mass timber, social impact, inclusive area development, and public-private collaboration via the Triple Helix model, Bob brings unique expertise and an invaluable perspective to the strategic direction of Built by Nature.

He is director of the Mass Timber Programme in residential development in the Metropolitan Region Amsterdam, which requires 20% of all new homes to be built from biobased materials and mass timber by 2025. Bob is also organiser of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) Waterfront Cities Council, past chair of ULI the Netherlands, member and past chair of the European Urban Regeneration ULI Council, participant in five ULI Advisory Services Panels, and a global ULI Trustee.
Bob has been working for decades in the public sector with the City of Amsterdam and the Metropolitan Region of Amsterdam. He was director, Residential Markets for the City of Amsterdam from 2009 to 2019, responsible for several programmes including midsegment rental housing, the self-built housing programme and student and youth housing.
Bob graduated as urban designer at the Delft University of Technology in 1978.
