COP30 recap: strong progress on responsible timber construction
COP30 was a landmark success for the responsible timber construction movement. For the first time, building with sustainable wood was firmly integrated into global climate discussions as a practical solution for decarbonizing the built environment. From government endorsements to concrete implementation plans and real-world examples, COP30 delivered the momentum we have been working toward.
1. 15 Governments Back the Principles
During COP30, 15 national governments endorsed the Principles for Responsible Timber Construction, joining a growing coalition of over 300 companies and civil society organizations committed to building responsibly.
2. Acceleration Plan Gains Global Traction
Built by Nature, SW4SW, and FCLP co-developed a 5-year Acceleration Plan to turn the Principles into action. Building with sustainable wood is now embedded in the Building for Forests plan, which will be advanced by the COP30 Presidency and the UNFCCC process.
