dRMM Wins Built by Nature’s Inaugural Frontrunner of the Year Award
London, UK. Built by Nature is proud to announce that dRMM has been selected as the winner of the Frontrunner of the Year Award 2025, a new annual recognition celebrating outstanding organisational commitment to our mission and network.
Chosen from a high-scoring shortlist of eight pioneering organisations across Europe, dRMM stood out for their consistent engagement, cross-border leadership, and influential contributions to the timber building transformation.
With offices in London and Berlin, dRMM has played an active role in both our UK and Germany networks, regularly attending local events, contributing case studies, and helping connect discussions across geographies. Their participation in public and industry forums has helped amplify Built by Nature’s mission to wider audiences.
“dRMM and Built by Nature are natural collaborators – we share a love of timber and an optimism for a future where building with biobased materials is no longer seen as a specialist pursuit. As a practice, we rely on research to inform our work, keep us inquisitive, and advance evidence-based innovation.”.– Jonas Lencer, Director, dRMM
In 2025, dRMM published the landmark study Measuring Mass Timber, which has been widely praised for its clarity and impact. The report was circulated to key UK policymakers, underscoring dRMM’s commitment to advocacy and evidence-based change. Their broader research agenda, including work on British hardwoods funded by the Forestry Commission, aligns closely with our global campaign for the Principles for Responsible Timber Construction.
Their recent project Workstack in London has received industry recognition, while new construction is underway in Berlin, further demonstrating their commitment to sustainable design and innovation.
“dRMM has shown what it truly means to be a frontrunner, not just by designing with timber, but by actively shaping the conversations and collaborations that drive our movement forward. Their presence in both our UK and Germany networks, their commitment to research and advocacy, and their openness to challenge industry norms have made them a cornerstone of our community. They don’t just participate, they provoke, connect, and elevate others. That’s the kind of leadership our network thrives on.”
-Joe Giddings, European Network Lead, Built by Nature
Built by Nature’s network connects pioneering developers, architects, engineers, asset owners, investors, city leaders, researchers, non-profits and policymakers in their journey to decarbonise the built environment. Through our Connect – Enable – Amplify approach, we foster collaboration, fund research and innovation, and share knowledge to accelerate the timber building transformation.
We congratulate dRMM on this well-deserved recognition and thank them for their continued leadership and commitment to a built environment in harmony with nature.
