Shortlist Announced for BbN Prize 2025

22 September 2025
News

Vancouver, Canada Built by Nature is proud to announce the 28 shortlisted buildings for the Built by Nature Prize 2025, celebrating the projects and people driving a global transformation in timber and bio-based construction.

The Prize was open for entries for two months earlier this year and received nearly 400 applications spanning 39 countries and jurisdictions. The shortlist reflects a wide range of typologies—from housing, education, and workplaces to industrial facilities and public infrastructure—demonstrating the diversity and innovation in today’s timber construction sector.

All shortlisted projects have been assessed against the Principles for Responsible Timber Construction—a common language and global framework to ensure that increased demand for wood is managed responsibly. More than 230 organisations from around the world have already endorsed these Principles, which will be formally launched at November’s COP30 in Belém, Brazil.

The shortlist was selected following a rigorous two-stage process, drawing on the expertise of independent assessors and an internationally acclaimed panel of judges from across the construction value chain. From these projects, six winners and six commendations will be revealed at the Built by Nature Summit in London on 16 October.
