Our Mission at COP31
The transition to sustainable and resilient buildings is already underway. Our role is to help it move faster, further together.
Following our presence at COP30 in Belém, Brazil, we continue our work this year at COP31, in Türkiye.
Through our partnership with the Climate Champions Team, Built by Nature is supporting the Buildings & Construction Activation Group, bringing together organisations from across the built environment to coordinate action, accelerate practical solutions and demonstrate progress. Together we’re helping transform hundreds of individual initiatives into a stronger, more connected movement for implementation.
Our goal is clear:
- Showcase how the Principles are being implemented by governments, cities and industry.
- Accelerate policy, finance and market conditions that support responsible timber and biobased construction.
- Strengthen international collaboration to scale solutions that benefit climate, nature and communities.

What we achieved last year at COP30
15 national governments endorsed the Principles during COP30, joining a list of over 350+ companies and civil society organisations.
Brazil Endorses Principles, Bringing Total to 15
Industry experts, such as the BbN’s 2025 Prize Winners, were brought into the climate discussions in Belém, and showcased real-life implementation examples through their work.
A 5-year implementation plan co-developed by BbN, SW4SW and FCLP was launched to bring the Principles into action. Building with sustainable wood is now firmly embedded in the Building for Forests Acceleration plan being taken forward by the COP30 Presidency and UNFCCC process.
