Showcasing a modular, circular timber system.
The 505 m², two-storey Elektrilevi Training Centre, completed in 2024 with the Estonian Academy of Arts, pilots the 3Cycle modular timber system. It accommodates classrooms, offices, and a hall for energy transition training while demonstrating the potential of low-impact, cost-efficient infrastructure.
Compact yet ambitious, the project shows how small public buildings can advance sustainable construction. Prefabricated CLT, glulam, and LVL modules enable rapid assembly, full disassembly and reuse, and material traceability. Wood fibre insulation and breathable walls ensure high energy performance.
With embodied carbon of just 334 kg CO₂e/m², the centre promotes circular timber design as both climate solution and scalable model. Open-source licensing further expands 3Cycle’s potential for global adoption in adaptable, low-carbon infrastructure.
