The Living Bridge

Mizzi Studio. Bali, Indonesia

Bamboo and local teamwork at the heart of co-learning space.

The Living Bridge is a 180 m² co-learning space at Green School Bali, collaboratively built with students, parents, and local craftsmen. Replacing a recycling hub, it embodies regenerative education by connecting people, land, and ideas.

Created for workshops, talks, and group learning, the project engages students aged 15–18 directly in design and construction, equipping them with fundamental skills while shaping their learning environment. Over 300 pieces of locally harvested bamboo were heat-bent using pioneering methods, supported by terrazzo from crushed glass, eco-crete bricks, lime plaster, and mycelium panels. Many materials were recycled or sourced on-site.

With its sweeping canopy and modular, low-impact design, the Living Bridge stores carbon, and advances circularity through regenerative bamboo architecture.
