An active and highly engaged national network, Built by Nature is collaborating in the UK to address specific challenges around perceptions of mass timber – including insurability – while simultaneously promoting its environmental and wellbeing benefits.

Automated Architecture (AUAR) – ‘our’ for short – is a tech company that is accelerating the mass adoption of timber construction and automation by providing the technological infrastructure for a regenerative, fair and inspiring built environment.


Cromwell Property Group

Cromwell Property Group (Cromwell) is a real estate investor and fund manager with operations on three continents and a global investor base.  As at 31 December 2022, Cromwell had a market capitalisation of $1.8 billion, an Australian investment portfolio valued at $2.8 billion and total assets under management of $12.0 billion across Australia, New Zealand and Europe.

Cromwell’s platform comprises 350+ staff in 20 offices in 15 countries across Australia, New Zealand and Europe. Total Assets Under Management (AUM) are AUD $12.0 / €7.6 billion, diversely spread across a range of sectors including Office (64%), Retail (9%), Industrial/Logistics (20%), Property Securities (3%) and Other (4%). The portfolio comprises 210+ assets let to more than 2,300 tenants.

Ramboll is a global architecture, engineering and consultancy company founded in Denmark in 1945, but now operating across 35 countries. Their team of 17,000 create sustainable solutions across Buildings, Transport, Water, Environment & Health, Architecture & Landscape, Energy and Management Consulting.


White Arkitekter

White Arkitekter is one of Scandinavia’s leading architectural practices. They work in an international context with the mission to enable sustainable life through architecture. Their vision is that all our architecture will be climate neutral through design excellence by 2030.

White have offices around the world, including in London, Oslo, Stockholm and Stuttgart. They have been the designers behind some of the most impressive timber buildings constructed to date, including the Sara Kulturhaus in Skelleftea. Their London office is currently working on the Velindre Cancer Centre, a new specialist hospital in Wales for the NHS, who claim this will be the "UK's most sustainable hospital."


Waugh Thistleton Architects

Waugh Thistleton Architects (WTA) is a Shoreditch based architectural practice producing thoughtful and sustainable projects in its own neighbourhood and beyond. The practice is a world leader in engineered timber and pioneer in the field of tall timber buildings. In their home city of London, WTA have designed and delivered exemplar timber residential and commercial buildings, including Dalston Lane, Murray Grove, Orsman Road with their most recent design, for The Office Group, being The Black & White Building, setting a new precedent for all-timber office construction in the UK. 

More broadly Waugh Thistleton has experience in delivering a wide range of building types in multiple geographies, including affordable housing, private residential projects, offices and commercial spaces, and mixed-use, cultural and leisure.

Human Nature

Human Nature is designing and building the world's best sustainable developments, which are regenerative for society, economy, nature and climate. Its mission is to shape a more optimistic social imagination of what it is to live well in the 21st century and how, together, we might get there. Human Nature is bringing forward the Phoenix project in Lewes, a walkable, low-traffic neighbourhood primarily constructed in sustainable timber and built around a culture of shared living.

With significant reach internationally, the group employs over 43,000 people and its global network provides services in more than 130 countries. Gallagher’s Specialty division offers specialist insurance and risk management services for complex and large risks on a direct and wholesale basis providing bespoke policy wordings, programme design and risk placement solutions, and consulting support across a range of specialisms.

Gallagher's real estate division in London has built expertise in insuring timber buildings, under the guidance of Director of Sustainable Real Estate, Dominic Lion. Dominic has been a part of Built by Nature's UK network since it's inception.



Arup is a British multinational professional services firm headquartered in London that provides design, engineering, architecture, planning, and advisory services across every aspect of the built environment

Bennetts Associates

Bennetts Associates is an architecture practice formed in 1987 by Rab and Denise Bennetts. They are an employee-owned trust of around 70 people and since 2022, a certified B Corp® with offices in London, Edinburgh and Manchester.

Bennetts have been a leading voice on climate mitigation in the built environment, involving themselves in multiple cross-industry networks in the UK. They are the architects designing Landsec's pioneering Timber Square development in Southwark, a 14 storey part-retrofit part-new build office development.

Lendlease is a multinational construction and real estate company, headquartered in Barangaroo, New South Wales, Australia. Lendlease's integrated business model includes real estate investment, asset management, development and construction, which includes a €33.3bn urban regeneration pipeline in London & Milan. Lendlease’s global investment management platform spans Europe, Australia, Americas and Asia, and their investment professionals manage approximately €29.5 billion globally in property assets.

Lendlease have collaborated with our UK & Italian networks, playing a pivotal role in bringing together developers to collectively drive forward the adoption of timber.

Redevco are a one-stop-shop for real estate management services. In April 2022, Redevco acquired a majority stake in redos, the Hamburg-based large-scale retail and urban logistics property investment specialist, which brought their total Assets under Management to around €9.9 billion. Redevco manage 356 assets in 12 countries across various portfolios for multiple investor clients. These properties comprise almost 4 million m2. of space and represent more than 3,500 tenancies.

Redevco are part of COFRA, a diversified group of companies whose heritage dates back 180 years to the founding of C&A. Today the group also comprises a private equity platform (Bregal), an asset management platform (Anthos Fund & Asset Management), a solar energy business (Sunrock), as well as its retail business (C&A).
